Take a walk with me if you will...

This post is for my Grandpa Keith. As you read this post and look at the pictures I hope to take you on a little journey through my Grandpa Keiths life. He was an incredible man, and did so many things and I just want to share a little bit of that with you all.

Keith "Bradley" Schwartz
Keith was born July 28th, 1922 in Payson Utah and passed away June 19th, 2010.
He grew up in Benjamin Utah. One day when he was 18 he was out working on the farm and made a decision that would change his life. He decided that farm life was not what he wanted to do, and he thought to himself that he should move to California. So he drove down with his cousin and they made it to San Bernardino valley and that is where he met my Grandma Doris Ingold working at the Morrow Aircraft Company. My Grandpa then shipped off to Germany for WWII and served over in Europe for 2 years. He fought in many big battles. He has told me so many stories about the war. So many interesting things about his life. He actually has a real Nazi flag. He came across it and thought it might come in handy. The whole time he was over seas him and my grandma wrote letters to each other which we still have. I have read many of them and thought it was so cute how he always started his letters saying how much he loved my grandma and how much he missed her, and then he would end the letter "love your Keithie boy". So cute.

He returned home from the war and they got married on my Grandmas parents wedding anniversary, and then were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple a couple years later (my grandma was not a member of the church at the time they met and dated).

My Grandpa graduated from The College of Mortuary Science and after graduating became the owner for 40 years of the Ingold Chapel (a Mortuary home). That itself brought many interesting stories.

My Grandpa has been in Bishoprics and been a Bishop. He also served as a High councelor and a Stake mission leader. My grandpa always lent his services when ever he could. He was always there to help ward members or the community. Him and my Grandma were both very active members in the church and were involved in so many events in the community. My grandpa not only enjoyed building modeling planes but he also built planes. He LOVED to fly. Even in his last months we talked about getting his pilots license again. He laughed alot, and always loved to play with and entertain the grandchildren. He would whistle (he was an amazing whistler) roll his eyes, rub his belly and pat his head for us. On Halloween we would always meet up at their house after trick-or-treating and he would steal our cracker jack box that we always got from a neighbor and tell us he was making sure it was safe to eat.

My grandpa and grandma had 1 daughter and 2 sons. They have 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. My grandpa has one sibling still alive, his youngest brother Glade.

Three years ago my Grandpa had a stroke that put him in bed. he stayed string for 3 years, and the last 3-4 months of his life were the hardest to see. I am SO grateful that we had the chance to be so close to my grandpa and grandma the last year and a half. We had good warnignof my grandpa passing on. He was in so much pain and we all knew it was time for him to go. I will miss his stories and laughter so much. We had the viewing on Wednesday June 23, and the funeral was on Thursday June 24th. We all cried together, and laughed about the good times together. I will miss him so much. I Love you Grandpa Keith.

What a great tribute! I LOVE the picture of them looking into the distance at the beach and how tender of the one when your grandma kissed him at the funeral :( Hang in there!

I loved this. I don't even know him, but you allowed that glimpse. I even found myself sad that he is gone. I guess in the end we will all reunite as brothers and sisters again.

And, I am always impressed with how many pictures you have of all your family, a wonderful family history through photos. I forget to take pictures beyond my kids. Always learning from wise Kelli.

Thank you.

Kelli!
I haven't been to your blog in a long time and then I see this.
I am sorry for your loss. I remember visiting with you at your Grand parents house in 2006. It so lovely to meet them and spend time with them. You are blessed to have had them in your life. Those are such beautiful photos. Treasured forever. xoxo to everyone at home. Especially your gorgeous little boys!
