I So ROCK!!!

Imagine this....

I am on the couch feeding one boy when the other starts to cry. Before I put the boy down to pick up the other I need to burp the one I have so he does not spit up all that he just ate (which happens-not as much as it use to but it still does). But the other is screaming very very loudly!!
So what would a mother do? Well, here was my soulution.... I lay Brad down on the couch, pick up Jensen who is just so mad at me at that point. I then grab the twin boppy pillow, sit down on the couch and while holding one baby, pull the other (with only one hand) up onto the pillow. If only I could have taken a picture of myself. I was so proud :) !! If you all could have seen a picture you would have seen Brad on my right shoulder being burped, Jensen laying on my lap against the boppy being fed. Then Jensen finishes his bottle so with one hand again I put him up against my left shoulder and start burping him. While burping him Brad falls asleep. So, I now have one baby asleep in my arms, and the other against my shoulder being burped! I so totally rock! I am really getting this twin thing all down! For those of you with only one baby consider your life easy!! :)

OH, and I totally forgot to tell you, on Friday last week I got this really bad pain in the middle of my back. The pain then continued on through the front right under my chest. It started around 10:00 and by 3:00 in the morning was still there. And it was a constant pain, no relief at all. So I sent Jason to the store to get some pepto, or gas relief. While he was gone I threw up and felt better. Then Saturday during the day it came on again. So we called my OB thinking it had something to do with my c-sesction. He said it sounded like a virus and told me to take some peptobismal and just stay on a liquid diet for the day. The pain stopped then came back again full force at 9:00 that night. By 3:00 am the pain was still there and I was in tears. So I called my doc again and he told me to go to the ER.

So Sunday at 3:30 am in the morning I made my way to the ER with my mother in law Nancy! First they give me morphine to stop the terrible pain, then they take my blood and take me down to get an ultrasound done. Talk about fun news that follows. The results come back and I have to have my gallbladder removed! Two major surgeries in 3 weeks. First the c-section, and now farewell to my gallbladder.... all while having to worry about two cute little guys!! Around 9:30 sunday morning they do the surgery. They do a laproscopic surgery... or something to that effect. They make four little incisions, pump up my stomach with gas and take my gallbladder out. The surgery goes well. My visiting teacher is a nurse at the ER and heard about my surgery and was holding my hand when I was in the recovery room. For some reason having her there by my side made me so happy. They wheeled me back to my room where my mom was waiting for me. My mom stayed the whole day and left early in the morning. Jason came and we left the hospital around 10:00. It was nice to see my boys. Jasons parents took them and watched them while I had the surgery. My ward was so great and made dinners for me all week long. I was joking with my sister in law Stephanie that I am just trying to see how many scars I can collect on the front side of me. I have my cancer scar above my chest, my c-section scar, the beautiful stretch marks from the pregnancy and the four incisions from the gallbladder. I have also had kidney stones.... what next is in store for me? maybe an apendix?.... I sure hope nothing else, at least for another couple of decades!!

You are amazing! I'm not surprised to hear what an awesome mom you are. I really am in awe of mothers of twins.

That stinks about your galbladder. Sorry! How cool that your VT was there in the recovery room with you. Talk about magnifying your calling! I'm glad people are taking care of you!

Kelli, you are amazing! I totally am sympathetic with you on the whole gallbladder thing. I started having attacks when Alexa was only 1 month old. They didn't figure out what it was until she was 3 months old, and I didn't get it removed until she was 4 months old. That pain from the attacks is by far the worst pain I have ever felt. Far worse than labor or delivery. I am so sorry you had to go through that. I hope that you are recovering well. Take it easy, okay.

Kelly,

I love your blogs Kelli!! CONGRATULATIONS to you and Jason--again--on the safe delivery of your sweet precious new little twins! They are sooooo adorable!

Your gall bladder experience was like de' ja vu! I felt YOUR pain and remembered with horror, my own experience back in 1969.

I was nearly 5 mos. pregnant with Michelle, and visiting Jason's grandma & grandpa (Maxine and Charlie West) in Pleasant Grove.

The gall bladder attack resulted in hospitalization which at first lasted for 5 days--on heavy medication!...as I waited for them to run tests and try to figure out WHAT was going on!!

I was soooo YELLOW (from the bile in my system) that they quarantined me....thinking it might be hepatitis!!

Following the surgery, which was BLINDINGLY painful!!!, I spent another 10 excruciating days in the hospital!

In those dinosaur days, the incision went from one side of your body to the other! Thank heavens for modern medicine!!!

I'm just thankful you are doing well!!! Who'd have guessed life could get sooooo CRAZY??!!

Hope to see you guys in a couple of weeks!!

Love,
Vickie

oh sweet kelli! u DO rock! its amazing how we can rise to the challenges that are dished out to us!
i just cried when i heard about your gallbladder attack and surgery! i endured horrible 12 hour attacks and some not so long....but i was pregnant with porter and if i had been ONE week earlier in my pregnancy they could have removed it...but instead i had attack after attack through my whole pregnancy. it was awful!
i also remember just starting to get better after having porter....only to be set back AGAIN with the gallbladder surgery 10 days later! (i am so glad to be rid of that awful thing!)
u can stop collecting scars girl...only boys are supposed to do that ;)
your boys are beautiful :)
love ya!

I'm sorry you had to have surgery. That exact thing happened to my neighbor in Provo right after she had her baby. As soon as I read pain in your back I knew it had to be your gallbladder. My neighbor described it just the same way. I guess it can happen after having a baby. I hope you're doing OK now. It sounds like a horrible thing to go through. It sounds like you have to twin thing down. You're amazing girl.

Kelli! You are such a trooper! The only scars that I am going to really love after all this baby business are the ones on my new fun bags! jk

I lost my gallbladder to the first baby I had...along with just about every person I know. THe dr's say it has nothing to do with the pregnancy but I say they are full of it!!

I'm impressed with the double mothering...I get to do it with a fully mobile 13 months old and a new born:)
